WordPress 3.5 Coming in December 2012

According to the WordPress.org Codex, Version 3.5 is tentively due early this December. Some of the upcoming changes that we’re seeing so far look quite exciting. Here is what we know:

  • New Default Theme “Twenty Twelve”

General Updates

  • Incorrect URL for second page of search results
  • Re-enable redirect_canonical for IIS

Posts Changes

  • Rename the “HTML” editor tab to “Text”
  • Prevent child categories from being visually promoted to the top level after Quick Edit
Some of the biggest expected changes are set to be in the Media Library and core Media Features. Daryl Koopersmith posted some slides for discussion on the make.wordpress.org blog. Below is a sneak peak of the wireframes and workflows they’ve got in motion.
